But when I saw this article it reminded me that my 1997 PhD (in Communications and Image Studies) was the first in the UK to be produced as a hyperthesis, exploring the form that an electronic humanities research textbook might take. In a separate lexia I discussed the future of reading in an electronic age (http://www.ju90.co.uk/fut.htm). Only in the last 12 months, though, has it all began to become a reality.
